The state government on Wednesday released another instalment of Rs. 401 crore to be distributed as compensation to the freak weather-hit farmers.
Giving this information, chief secretary Alok Ranjan said Rs. 401 crore assistance was in addition to the Rs. 246 crore relief released earlier.
He also said the DMs had been told to speed up relief operations and distribute compensation to the affected farmers.
Holding a meeting with the Central team members here, Ranjan said the state government was sending to the Centre a memorandum for Rs. 1067 crore assistance for the affected farmers in 40 districts.
The Central team members would visit 15 districts in separate groups on different days.
The districts include Jhansi, Banda, Mahoba, Jalaun, Hamirpur, Kanpur Nagar, Kanpur Dehat, Unnao, Etawah, Kannauj, Badayun, Bareilly, Shajhanpur, Pilibhit, Sambhal, Lalitpur and Chitrakoot. “We will have a joint meeting together after their inspection is over,” the chief secretary said.
