UP receives light rain, some rivers show receding trend

Light to moderate rains and thundershowers occurred at few places in Uttar Pradesh with isolated places in the state drenched with heavy rainfall in the past twenty-four hours.

Light to moderate rains and thundershowers occurred at few places in Uttar Pradesh with isolated places in the state drenched with heavy rainfall in the past twenty-four hours.

According to Met office sources, chief amount of rains recorded in cms are- Baheri (Bareilly) 21, Baduan, Mishrikh (Sitapur) 7 each, Sultanpur 4, Bahraich, Kalpi, Unnao, Muzaffarnagar and Kunda (Pratapgarh) 3 each.

Sources said thundershowers would occur at many places in east UP and a few places at western districts and that heavy to very heavy rains are likely at one or two places over the state during the next forty-eight hours.

Meanwhile, the Central Water Commission sources said that Sharda continued to flow above the danger mark at Palia Kalan while Ganga and Ghaghra rivers which were flowing very near the red mark in Fatehgarh, Ankinghat (Kanpur dehat), Kanpur and Elgin Bridge, Ayodhya and Turtipar (Ballia) was maintaining either receding or static trend. However, the water level of Ganga at Chatnag (Ghazipur) was rising.
