28-year-old man arrested for molesting actress in Mumbai

The actress, who is in her 20s, said that she had cut all ties with the accused and had warned him to stay away from her.

The Oshiwara police arrested a 28-year-old artist for allegedly molesting an actress in Andheri (West) on Sunday. The accused is known to the victim, and was angry because she had stopped speaking with him. According to Oshiwara police, the incident took place near the actress’ residence.

The actress, who is in her 20s, said that she had cut all ties with the accused, Satyendranath Sharma, and had warned him to stay away from her. She had known him for the last three years after they met at a film party.

She had heard somethings about him from her friends, after which she had cut off communication with him earlier this year. The accused had called her asking to meet him at someplace, but she refused.

However, on Saturday evening, the enraged accused showed up outside her building and pulled her into a rickshaw and molested her.

The victim then rushed out of the rickshaw and reached the Oshiwara police station, where a first information report (FIR) was registered under section 354 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

“On Sunday, the accused was traced and arrested. He has been sent to police custody for a day by court,” said a police official from Oshiwara police station.
