A 28-year-old woman died after she fell off the 23rd floor of the 25-storey Twin Towers in Prabhadevi on Monday afternoon.

According to the Dadar police, the woman, Ketki Vinayak Gavande, lived with her parents in flat number 231 of A wing.

Diwakar Shelke, senior inspector of Dadar police station, said, “We did not find a suicide note at the spot. The woman’s parents and husband said she was under depression. We got a call around 1.30pm.”

Gavande, an MA graduate, jumped out of the window after opening the AC grille, said police. The woman was rushed to a hospital where she was declared dead.

Shelke said, “Gavande, got married two months ago, was going through depression for the past few years.” “The woman’s husband was also aware of her condition,” said a police officer.

On Monday, Gavande’s husband left for work and dropped her at her parent’s place on the way. Gavande’s mother and domestic help were at home, while her father had left for work. “Gavande did not talk much and went straight to her room. After a few minutes, the neighbours heard a scream,” said an officer.

“Gavande’s parents said they don’t blame anyone for the suicide. We have registered an accidental death report and are investigating to find out whether she had attempted suicide earlier as well,” Shelke said.
