Third arrest in sexual assault case of minors at Navi Mumbai ashram

The Kalamboli police have arrested the third accused for allegedly sexually assaulting three minor boys from February in an ashram on Thursday. The third accused is a minor.
On Monday, the police had arrested two caretakers of the ashram- Gaurav Kamat, 27, and Dipesh Niakm, 19, in the case. The accused would take the boys to their rooms at night and assault them.
“The three accused stayed in the ashram to continue their education. Later, they also started serving there as caretakers,” said Machindra Khade, senior police inspector of Kalamboli police station.
Police have not revealed details of the third accused as he is a minor. “We arrested the third accused in the case from his home town. We cannot disclose the place of his arrest as it violates the provisions of the Juvenile Justice Act,” he said.
After his arrest, the third accused was produced before the juvenile court and has sent to a remand home at Karjat.
