Auto driver held in Mumbai for attacking woman cop
The incident took place at New Shastri Nagar, where police officer Anita Tonde, 32, was clearing traffic on Monday night.
The Goregaon police recently arrested a 25-year-old autorickshaw driver who attacked an on-duty woman police officer, after she stopped his vehicle for carrying five passengers in Goregaon (West).

The accused has been identified as Wajid Sayyed.
The incident took place at New Shastri Nagar, where police officer Anita Tonde, 32, was clearing traffic on Monday night. At 9.40pm, she spotted Sayyed’s autorickshaw, which was carrying five passengers.
She asked him to park his vehicle and told him he could not carry more than three passengers at a time.
Sayyed refused to park his autorickshaw and stopped it in the middle of the road, blocking the traffic. He then started arguing with her.
According to police, Sayyed said, “Who are you to stop me? Do you have the power to stop me? Do you know who I am? Get out of my way.”
Sayyed then threatened and pushed her, after which Tonde called for back up. He was booked under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the Motor Vehicles Act. He was arrested on Tuesday.
