After months of investigations, Waliv police have arrested the man who killed a minor in July. The girl’s body was found in a desolate spot of a Vasai school on July 3, highly decomposed and naked, by kids who had gone there to look for a cricket ball. The police had registered a case of murder against unknown persons.
The cops apprehended Manish Yadav, 23, a resident of Vasai from Connaught Place, New Delhi, where he was working as a waiter-cum-delivery boy at a restaurant.
Tikde had been in love with Manish and was two timing him with one of Manish’s friend, said an officer. This infuriated Manish and he decided to take revenge. On June 28, he took Ankita to the school to talk to her about her alleged two timing. He stabbed her with a knife and fled from the spot. “We suspected Manish all along because he was also missing from the house that day,” said the officer.
“Manish went to his sister’s home in Uttar Pradesh where we missed him and then to his uncle’s place somewhere else,” said Anil Akade, deputy superintendent of police, Vasai Circle. “We tapped his number which showed Mahim to be his last noted location. We reached the place to find out that Manish had found a job as a waiter in Kalpana Restaurant in Delhi. We could not nab him on Indepenmdence Day because we feared a panic situation. So we took the help of Delhi police who kept an eye on him on August 15 and we arrested him the next day.”
Manish has been slapped with charges under Section 302 of the IPC and will be produced the Vasai court on Friday, said the officer.
