Drunk man gropes woman at Mumbai station, husband chases and nabs him

The accused does not have a criminal record, said Mumbai police

A 29-year-old woman was allegedly groped by a 40-year-old drunk man when she was getting down a bridge at the Lower Parel railway station past midnight on Sunday.

Her husband chased the accused and nabbed him with help of an on-duty cop.

According to the Mumbai Central Government Railway Police (GRP), the arrested man, Pradip Kamble, is a resident of Adarsh Nagar slum in Goregaon.

The couple was returning home after meeting relatives at Lower Parel. Around 12.5 am, a drunk Kamble came from in front of the woman while she was getting down the bridge to go to the platform. He groped her and started running.

The woman’s 32-year-old husband ran after him and nabbed him with the help of an on-duty GRP constable. The accused was taken to the Mumbai Central GRP police station and arrested.

An FIR was registered against him under section 354 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty) of the IPC.

An officer from the GRP said, “He was produced before a magistrate court, remanded in judicial custody and later granted bail.” The accused does not have a criminal record.
