Fawad, like several other artistes from Pakistan, have been in the limelight after the Raj Thackeray-led MNS threatened to push them out in the wake of the Uri terror attack, in which 18 soldiers were martyred.

While there have been rumours about Pakistani actor Fawad Khan secretly leaving India after threats and protests by the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena against actors from that country, sources told HT that Fawad went back to Lahore in July, after wrapping up his work in the city.

The actor, like several other artistes from Pakistan, have been in the limelight after the Raj Thackeray-led MNS threatened to push them out in the wake of the Uri terror attack, in which 18 soldiers were martyred. The MNS had issued an ultimatum to Pakistani actors and artistes to leave India by September 25 or else they would be “pushed out”.

Fawad will be seen in Karan Johar’s Ae Dil Hai Mushkil.

“The last Fawad came to India was in July. He finished his work here and went back in a few days,” said a source close to the film’s production house. The sourse said although Fawad was due to come back to India sometime in August, he cancelled because of some personal issues.

“All this about him leaving the country secretly, it is entirely untrue,” the source said.
