A Dadar resident was on Tuesday arrested for breaking and damaging an LCD screen on the Mumbai-Goa Tejas Express last month.
Here are the five times the semi high speed full AC train was in the news:
1. The grand launch: The Tejas Express, which comes with features such as automatic doors, vacuum bio-toilet, tea-copy vending machines, the local cuisine on the catering menu, onboard WiFi and entertainment screens, was launched on June 23. It got overwhelming response from passengers.
2. Not impressed: While the passengers found the staff extremely helpful, it turned out that the much-touted LCD infotainment screens only had a playlist of 20-odd songs, and a single Bollywood film called Bhagam Bhag that I have to admit I had never heard of. The difference between the regular and executive coach was cosmetic at best — pillows and a footrest.
3. The great robbery: Although the first trip of Tejas Express, high-speed train from Mumbai to Goa, started amid much fanfare, the train came back with fewer headphones, damaged infotainment screens and waste strewn all over.
4. The solution: If you’re travelling by the Mumbai-Goa Tejas Express anytime soon, don’t forget to carry your own earphones if you want to watch movies or listen to music on the infotainment screen. Or else, you will have to shell out Rs30 for a pair that you will be allowed to then take home.
5. The arrest: A Dadar resident was on Tuesday arrested for breaking and damaging an LCD screen on the Mumbai-Goa Tejas Express last month. The Railway Protection Force (RPF) arrested Nandadeep Sandeep Keer, after going through the passenger reservation chart from the IRCTC and scanning cell phone call records.
