Mumbai’s got talent: BMC will let you show your paintings, sculptures at traffic islands

Anyone who is interested in showcasing their work from installations or sculptures can contact the local ward officers who can then provide the list of traffic islands available.

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation is allowing local artists to beautify traffic islands across the city. Traffic islands include all areas, which are raised created for spreading and directing vehicular traffic.

Anyone who is interested in showcasing their work from installations or sculptures can contact the local ward officers who can then provide the list of traffic islands available.

Officials informed that every spot or traffic island will be available for two to three months.

The plan to revamp traffic islands in the city was launched last year, after many complaints were raised that traffic islands had turned into garbage dumps.

The official said the aim was to provide space for cultural dialogue, beautification and maintenance of public spaces. He said, “We are even allowing the artists to share their contact information if they wish to.”

Several traffic islands in Bandra and Worli have already been given for beautification.
