Even though southwest monsoon arrived in southern states of Kerala and Tamil Nadu three days ahead of its schedule, Mumbaiites experience yet another hot and humid day on Tuesday.

Day temperature at Santacruz and Colaba were 34.6 degrees Celsius, 1.1 degrees Celsius above normal. Night temperature was almost 2 degrees Celsius above normal at Colaba (28.8 degrees Celsius) and 1.3 degree Celsius above normal at Santacruz (28.3 degrees Celsius).

Moisture levels were high, as Colaba recorded 81% humidity during the day that dropped to 75% by the evening — 5% above normal. Santacruz recorded 71% humidity during the day that dropped to 68% by the evening — 2% above normal.

Weather bureau had on Monday had predicted pre-monsoon showers in the city from Wednesday. But the forecast was revised on Tuesday stating light rain or thundershowers likely from Thursday. An official from weather bureau said conditions were favourable for light rain this week, as areas in Konkan such as Sindhudurg and Ratnagiri are receiving light showers.

The bureau has predicted a partly cloudy sky for Wednesday with day and night temperature expected at 35 and 28 degrees Celsius.
