A 45-year-old woman was allegedly beaten to death with an iron rod by her neighbour after she stopped him for throwing garbage in front of her house at Dombivli on Wednesday.

The fight started after Ravindra Janardan Masurkar got garbage from his house and threw it in front of Sunanda Prakash Lokhre’s place around 10.30 am. The waste also included dog excreta.

Ravindra, works as a labourer, was arrested after two hours of the incident. On Wednesday morning, when Sunanda’s daughter Sheetal saw Ravindra dump all the garbage in front of their place, she told him not to do that as she was already sick and didn’t want the entrance to their place to become more dirty.

Vilas Shende, senior police inspector from Dombivli police station said,”After Sheetal him told not to do so, Sunanda came out of the house and asked Ravindra again to remove the garbage from there, after which both had a heated argument.”

The accused then went to his place and came out with an iron rod and hit Sunanda on the head with it. “When she started bleeding profusely, he fled from the spot. With the help of neighbours she was taken to hospital but was declared dead on arrival,” added Shende.

He said, “A complaint was filed under section 302( punishment for murder) of the Indian Penal Code and.within two hours we nabbed the accused who was hiding in Dombivli area. The accused’s wife had left him few years back and he lived with his mother from the past few years”
