Services on CR delayed by 10 mins as coupling of goods train breaks

Local trains on the central line were delayed by 5 to 10 minutes after the coupling of a goods train broke at Vithalwadi station. The incident occurred around 2pm and the problem was rectified within minutes.

PK Das, Kalyan station manager, said, “The goods train was on its way to Kalyan when the coupling broke. Since the driver didn’t realise, he went on leaving behind four to five coaches on the track. We were alerted by a few onlooker, following which authorities concerned were informed. The train was recalled and left after repairs.”

He added that due to non-peak hours, only a couple of trains were disrupted, whcih ran late by 5 to 7 minutes.

AK Singh, PRO for Central Railway, said, “We haven’t received any information regrading the issue at Vithalwadi, we are awaiting information.”
