Thane double murder: Two brothers attacked by hawkers
Police officials said the murder seems to be premeditated
Two brothers were murdered on the bridge over the Ulhas River at Vangani on Wednesday around 11.15 pm. The suspects, Arun and Arjun Shetty, are also brothers and work as hawkers, said the police.
The Kulgaon police said the victims, Dhanraj Singh, 28, and Azad Singh, 22, work in the fabrics and welding businesses.
Police officials said the murder seems to be premeditated. When the brothers were on their way to the Navrati immersions in Vangani, the accused followed them, carrying choppers. They attacked the brothers, who succumbed to injuries on their heads, necks, backs, legs and hands.
The police complaint in the case was filed by victims’ father Abja Singh, 48, who told the police that the accused and his sons had been enemies since the past four years. They had fought recently, he added.
The superintendent of police (Thane rural) Mahesh Patil said they have registered a case of murder under section 302 of the Indian Penal Code at the Kulgaon police station. They are on the lookout for the suspects.
