Thane woman offered job by friend from Punjab, raped

A 24-year-old woman from Thane was allegedly raped by her Facebook friend last year. The man had promised to give her a job in a multinational company.

The Kapurbawdi police have filed a case against Mangatpal Singh,42, under the relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). Singh is a resident of Punjab.

A police officer from the Thane commissionerate said, “Last year, the woman got an interview call for the said job in October. Singh told her that he would conduct the interview when he would visit Thane.”

The woman was called to a private lodge, where a spiked drink was offered to her.

“The woman, in her complaint told that she went for the interview because she was offered a good salary and designation,” the officer said.

In the lodge, Singh offered the woman a spiked drink.

“The woman alleged that the drink was spiked, as she fell unconscious after consuming it. She has said that Singh raped her while she was unconscious and also recorded the entire act in a video,” the officer said.
