The woman recently learned that he is married to three other women from Thane, Mumbai and Navi Mumbai. The man also allegedly cheated her of Rs10 lakh, she alleged in the complaint.

The woman, in her complaint, said Verma told her he has a young son and a bed-ridden father.

“Verma got the woman’s number from the matrimonial site. After meeting for a few months, they got married. Within a few days, he started asking her for money on the pretext of his father’s treatment. When the woman found out about his marriages, Verma beat her up, exploited her sexually and threatened her. She registered a complaint on Monday,” said a police officer from Chithalsar Manapda police station.

The police said Verma also married a doctor. “We have formed a team to nab him. We have a few leads and will arrest him soon.  We are checking if he has cheated more women.”
