PALGHAR: Officers from the Local Crime Branch (LCB) of the Palghar police arrested a trio for robbing and murdering a money transfer agent from Boisar in September.

The accused were produced in a Palghar court, which remanded them in police custody.
On September 11, Kalpesh Pimple, 30, a money transfer agent from Kubhvili in Boisar was returning to his office after collecting Rs3 lakh from investors, which was to be deposited in the bank the next day.
On his way, Pimple was intercepted by Vishal Vaiti, 24, Sumit Patil, 19, and Kashinath Kalbande, 27, on the Boisar-Kumbhvili highway.
They assaulted him before fleeing with the cash, his laptop and a gold chain. Pimple was rushed to the nearby hospital by the locals.
He was later shifted to Lilavati hospital, where he died a few days later.
Later, a case was registered against the unidentified assailants under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) for murder and theft, among others, at the Boisar MIDC police station.
It was Pimple himself who provided the police with a vital clue and helped them solve the case.
He mentioned the name of one of the assailants in his statement, which happened to be his last name.
“Based on his final statement, we arrested the accused and recovered Rs1.70 lakh,” said Inspector Ashok Honmane from LCB, Palghar.
“They knew he collected cash from the 1st to 10th of each month and deposited it in the bank. It was an inside job,” added the officer.
