While the donor and recipient fled the hospital as soon as the discrepancies were uncovered, hospital sources denied knowledge of the case.
DHS sources confirmed that discrepancies were found in one of the cases at Global Hospital, where two males, claiming to be father and son, approached the hospital for a kidney transplant. While the hospital authorisation committee approved the transplant, Directorate of Medical Education (DMER) officials rejected the documents suspecting foul play involving monetary transactions.
“As soon as they were called for questioning, Rishabh Dhangache, 21, and Suresh Dhangache, 51, fled with the forged papers. We will investigate the records and video footage,” said a DHS official.
DHS will also question two people involved in another case, who presented themselves as sisters and underwent a kidney transplant at LH Hiranandani Hospital on April 27. Discrepancies were found in Rasilaben Kathiriya’s and Harshaben Kevadiya’s papers.
