The GRP officials spotted the body lying near the tracks around 6.10pm and sent it to NMMC Hospital in Vashi. The doctors declared him dead on arrival.

“Our officials reached the spot minutes after the accident, but the victim had lost consciousness. It is not clear how, and from which train he fell. He suffered severe injuries on his head and other parts of his body,” said Pramod Dhawade, senior police inspector of Vashi GRP.

“We did not find proof of the victim’s identity in his pockets,” he added.

Another unidentified man aged around 35 died while crossing the tracks between Nerul and Seawoods station on Saturday morning.

His body has been sent to Vashi’s NMMC hospital.

According to railway sources, 252 people died in the satellite city while crossing the tracks or falling off moving trains in 2015, as opposed to 205 deaths registered in 2014.
