NAVI MUMBAI: A day after arresting an alleged mastermind in the Rs6-core Nerul robbery, the Mumbai crime branch handed him over to the Navi Mumbai police on Saturday.

Acting on a tip-off, the police nabbed Arputraj Nadar, 38, on Friday evening.
He was produced before the judicial court on Saturday and was remanded in police custody till August 30.
Wearing monkey caps, Nadar, a history sheeter, and five other accomplices, had looted a financial company of 23kg of gold and Rs9 lakh in cash in Nerul on August 5. They also broke the computers and took away the DVR of the CCTV cameras as they did not want to leave behind any clue.
Nadar’s arrest will help the police arrest the rest five robbers as he shared their names, an officer said.
Dilip Sawant, deputy commissioner of police (crime), said, “We had identified the accused at the beginning and shared his photographs with the Mumbai police. Based on these clues, the Mumbai crime branch arrested him on Friday and handed him over to us.”
“Nadar was involved in several robberies in Mumbai and other places and had been arrested earlier. We have not recovered any cash or jewellery from his possession so far,” he said.
Nadar was spotted in footage of one CCTV camera installed in the neighbourhood, sources said. Two days after the robbery in Nerul, the police recovered a white Swift Dzire car which was used in the crime.
