Sixth person arrested in Gadoli encounter case
MUMBAI: The Special Investigation Team (SIT) of the Mumbai crime branch arrested a sixth person — a suspended police constable — in gangster Sandeep Gadoli’s encounter case on Saturday.
The arrested accused — Deepak Kakran — was working with the Gurgaon police and was suspended after the SIT registered a case against him and four other cops.
Kakran was produced in court on Saturday and remanded in police custody until August 11.
The investigation team had already arrested five suspects — sub inspector Pradyumna Yadav, two police constables, Gadoli’s girlfriend Divya Pahuja and her mother Sonia — and taken them in judicial custody.
Pahuja and her mother were arrested for being allegedly involved with the Gurgaon police in the fake encounter case.
The SIT found a series of calls and messages exchanged between Pahuja and the Gurgaon cops and this indicated that she gave them information about Gadoli’s whereabouts. Her mother was also constantly in touch with her and informed Manoj Gujjar, brother of Gadoli’s rival and a wanted accused, and a senior officer in Gurgaon about Gadoli.
