MUMBAI: During its latest speed trials, the Spanish-made Talgo train reached Mumbai from New Delhi in 12-and-a-half hours. Sources said the train was delayed by 17 minutes.

For this trial, the train ran at 140 kmph. It left New Delhi on Wednesday at 2.45pm and was scheduled to reach Mumbai Central at 2.57am on Thursday. It reached at 3.14am, said a Western Railway (WR) source.
The Talgo was first tested at 130kmph, and will be tested at 150 kmph in the next phase. The high-speed train is expected to cover the distance between New Delhi and Mumbai in 12 hours and 12 minutes — four hours faster than the Rajdhani Express. Sources said the train departed to New Delhi again at 5.12am. The final speed trial, at 150 kmph, will be done on Saturday. It will leave Delhi at 2.45pm and is expected to arrive in Mumbai at 2.23am.
