Uddhav willing to go solo in BMC elections

MUMBAI: Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray’s told Sainiks on Sunday, the day his party turned 50, to prepare to fight the upcoming BMC polls alone. Thackeray indicated the party was ready in case the alliance with the BJP did not materialise, but also kept a window for talks open.

The Sena, insiders said, assumes the BJP will call off the alliance for the elections. However, Thackeray’s decision to talk tough shows it wants to send out a stern message.

Celebrating its 50th anniversary, the Sena’s bash had all its familiar ingredients — the enactment of Shivaji’s coronation scene, cultural performances and audiovisuals on the Sena’s journey that started with its founder the late Bal Thackeray.
