20,000 cops will man your roads on Dec 31

As you bring in the New Year, around 20,000 police personnel will be on duty to ensure that your December 31 celebrations pass off without trouble.

As you bring in the New Year, around 20,000 police personnel will be on duty to ensure that your December 31 celebrations pass off without trouble.

Starting from 3pm on Monday, police officials will be deployed across the city till Januray 1 morning. "We are getting 3,000 new recruits from outside the city," said a senior police officer.

Apart from this, 1,000 Home Guards, 14 companies of the SRPF and the crime branch units will also be deployed. Police chief Satyapal Singh on Wednesday said there would be special squads at various spots.
