A four-year-old girl, who was kidnapped and then rescued, helped the police track down and arrest her abductors.

Karim Sheikh Ismail, 31, and Rashid Abdul Razzak, 51, were arrested for kidnapping Misa on June 14 and stealing a pair of gold earrings from her. Both the accused work in the scrap business and were customers at Misa’s father’s shop.

According to police inspector Ravindra Tyade of Bazaarpeth police station, Kalyan, Misa’s kidnappers tempted her with sweets and abducted her. After kidnapping the girl, they first headed to Manmad and then to Jalna. At Jalna, they took Misa’s gold earrings and left her alone on board the Devgiri Express, promising to return with food and water.

When she realised that she was alone, Misa started crying, attracting the attention of fellow commuters. Concerned co-passengers handed her over to the police at Aurangabad railway station, where the girl was able to recall her father’s cell phone number.

The police contacted the father, Shahrukh Jahangir, 41, who rushed to Aurangabad, along with a team from Bazaarpeth Police Station. After being rescued, the girl was able to identify her kidnappers, and with the help of her description, the police were able to arrest the accused.

During police interrogation, Karim Ismail confessed to the kidnapping while Rashid Abdul Razaak was arrested for withholding information about the crime.
