The fountains will mainly be on different traffic islands and will be ready by the end of the year.

An MMRDA official said these fountains would be entirely funded by corporate companies. The sponsor companies will also be responsible for the maintenance of the fountains.

The MMRDA is the special planning authority for BKC and hence directly responsible for its development and upkeep.

The companies that have come forward to erect the water fountains are NABARD, Reliance Energy, IDBI, Hotel Trident and SBI.

Ratnakar Gaikwad, metropolitan commissioner, MMRDA, said: “We are glad that corporates are taking up the beautification of BKC as their corporate social responsibility activity. I am sure this will give them a sense of belonging.”
