‘Accused had plans to kidnap child’

Ravindra Sriram has claimed that the two men who allegedly kidnapped and murdered his brother Ganesh initially planned to kidnap a seven-year-old girl for ransom.

Ravindra Sriram has claimed that the two men who allegedly kidnapped and murdered his brother Ganesh initially planned to kidnap a seven-year-old girl for ransom.

Sriram claims to have been told by the police that Ravindra Yadav and his accomplice Kalpesh Soni were desperate for money and were going to abduct Yadav's employer's daughter. However, they had to abandon their plan after the child left for her hometown with her parents. "As that did not work out, they kidnapped Ganesh," Sriram said.

Police did not back up Sriram's theory. "We are not aware of any such plan of the accused. Our investigation is underway," said Anil Patil, senior inspector with Kashimira police station. Patil said the accused told Ganesh's parents that they would brainwash him into marrying the girl he had an affair with or falsely implicate him in a sexual harassment case. Police are trying to trace the girl.
