Mukesh Jain , his uncle, told HT, “Adtiya was very active. He would travel alone to watch cricket matches. He was brought up to be independent.”

Family members said they were not aware of Himanshu Ranka's betting habit.

“Himanshu stayed with us at our current residence at Pavapuri Building in Khetwadi. He shifted to the neighbouring building after he got married a little over a year ago,” said Nischal Ranka, Aditya's uncle.
