The Bar Council of Maharashtra and Goa is all set to send its suggestions and inputs to the Standing Committee of the Parliament, which will discuss the Lokpal Bill.
The chairman of the bar, Anil Singh, held a meeting on Saturday, which was attended by senior advocates, retired judge justice DR Dhanuka and members of the bar.
The participants gave their inputs and suggestions during the three-hour meeting and most of them were of the view that the prime minister should be brought under the purview of the Lokpal while some of the members opined that the inclusion of the prime minister should be with some exceptions such as national security and foreign regulations.
There was also difference of opinion as to whether higher judiciary should be included under Lokpal’s ambit or under the judicial accountability bill.
The bar council will be placing all these suggestion before the full house of the bar council where the suggestions will be compiled and forwarded to the standing committee.
