BMC to monitor officials dealing with pothole issue

The civic body is soon launching a website to involve citizens in its pothole-filling efforts. Rajiv Jalota, additional municipal commissioner, said, “The system will help keep track of the official who has visited the spot.”

The civic body has decided to buy software from a private firm for Rs 20 lakh.

“This is being launched on an experimental basis. If the system works we will continue with it,” said Satish Badve, chief engineer, road department. Shantanu Kulkarni, director of the firm that developed the software said, “The system can also help check on complaints of garbage bins, random dumping, water logging and overflowing drains.” He said they are working on software to help check quality of material on roads before they are laid.
