Catholics from across the city and suburbs participated in a rally to oppose the civic body’s current demolition drive of crosses. The protest was organised by the Catholic Secular Forum (CSF) at Cross Maidan on Friday.

The Cardinal Oswald Gracias, archbishop and president, Catholic Bishops Conference of India, said, “By demolishing crosses, BMC has not insulted us but they have insulted God. As per the SC order, if the crosses hindering to the traffic or illegal has to be removed.

We, Christians, who are responsible citizens will take them case-by-case, study them and then act on it. Besides, I am meeting chief minister on Monday to convey the hurt sentiments of the community.”
