The results for the Chennai region (which includes Mahara-shtra) announced on Tuesday, suggest that the new system of continuous comprehensive evaluation (CCE) is successful.

This was the second year of students getting grades instead of marks. The 2010-11 batch was the first to be evaluated on a system of continuous evaluation from Class 9 and had the option of taking a school final exam instead of a board exam.

In Maharashtra, 15,969 students took the board exams, while 5,680 opted for the school conducted final exams. Both sets got their results on Tuesday.

“People were worried that CCE would be subjective, but the transition has been very smooth,” said Rakesh Joshi, principal, Apeejay School, Nerul.
