Anusaya Parash Dhyani was stabbed under her arm by the man whom neighbours descri-bed as being in his 20s.

He had come to the house under the pretext of taking Dhyani’s signature on a courier document.

The woman, however, escaped certain death after neighbours rushed to her aid when she raised an alarm.

“The man had asked the senior citizen to open the safety chain, saying he needed her signature on the document. But, as soon as she opened it, the man barged into the house. He first tried to choke the woman and then stabbed her under the arm,” said Qaiser Khalid, additional commissioner of police (East region).
