State Excise and Non-conventional Energy minister Ganesh Naik inaugurated the station located at the Navi Mumbai Municipal Transport (NMMT) depot, Turbhe.
The station will cater to NMMT buses and an additional filling facility is provided outside for private vehicles.
Jitendra Papalkar, General Manager, NMMT said, “Of our fleet of 300 buses, 30 have been running on CNG. We plan to induct 120 more buses which will run on CNG and make use of this exclusive station.”
Asking the company to ensure efficiency, Ganesh Naik said, “There are other competitors in the market but if MGL provides the requisite service at economical rates, they’ll not face problems.”
The company plans to set 20 online CNG stations in the city in the next five years, added Gupta.
