The Bangur Nagar police, on Friday, arrested a 20-year-old watchman from Assam for allegedly molesting a six-year-old girl on June 27 last year.

The police said the incident took place when the victim was playing badminton in the garden of her housing society in Goregaon (West), where the accused, Mohammad Afzal Hussain, was a watchman.

The victim’s father approached the Bangur Nagar police station and registered a complaint against Hussain, but he had fled from the spot.

The police traced Hussain, who has been on the run, through his cellphone location on Friday, following which he was arrested.

“Hussain has been booked under section 354 of the Indian Penal Code for outraging the modesty of a woman,” said an official from the Bangur Nagar police station.
