“Shilajeet was excited about meeting his mother, who lives in Uttar Pradesh. He was going to leave for his village on November 7,” said Yashoda Gupta, 46, a neighbour.

In another incident two weeks ago, a 13-year-old girl was hit by a speeding car on the same road. The residents are now demanding police patrolling in the area. “The traffic signal on the road was not functioning till yesterday. Steps should be taken to prevent such accidents,” said Madhav Yadav, a resident.
