Health records mandatory for CBSE students

Students will now have to share their medical history and health records with their school, according to a recent circular from the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE).

Students will now have to share their medical history and health records with their school, according to a recent circular from the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE).

The board has asked CBSE schools to ensure that parents provide the relevant documents at the time of admission and teachers update these at regular intervals. The move is aimed at preventing the spread of diseases. The circular was uploaded on the CBSE website last month.

As per the new directives, the child’s record must contain details of immunisation against various diseases They will also have to share any medical history of serious illnesses, allergies, and any previous surgeries

CBSE has provided a format for verifying records that all CBSE schools have to follow. The circular cautioned schools against conducting external medical examinations or referral without the parents’ knowledge. “The child’s medical history should be available in case of an emergency,” said a CBSE official.
