I-T commissioner held for taking Rs 2.2 lakh bribe

The anti-corruption wing of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Friday night arrested Income Tax Commissioner (Appeals) RP Meena for allegedly harassing a software professional for bribe.

The anti-corruption wing of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Friday night arrested Income Tax Commissioner (Appeals) RP Meena for allegedly harassing a software professional for bribe.

Following a complaint, a CBI team laid a trap and apprehended UA Pai, a chartered accountant, while accepting a bribe of Rs 2.2 lakh. “Meena was arrested after Pai revealed the bribe was accepted on his behalf,” said Rishiraj Singh, joint director (CBI Mumbai Zone-1).
