Lata Mangeshkar to get first Hridaynath award

Melody queen Lata Mangeshkar will be honoured with the first Hridaynath Award for her lifetime contribution to the field of music.

Melody queen Lata Mangeshkar will be honoured with the first Hridaynath Award for her lifetime contribution to the field of music.

The award has been instituted by Hridayesh Arts, a city-based socio-cultural organisation. Actor Amitabh Bachchan will present the award to Mangeshkar on her 82nd birthday on September 28.

Avinash Prabhavalkar, chairman, Hridayesh Arts, said that the organisation was founded on October 26, 1990, the 53rd birthday of Pandit Hridaynath Mangeshkar, Lata’s brother and renowned music composer.

The award has been instituted to mark the 75th birthday of Hridaynath Mangeshkar this year, added Prabhavalkar.
