The first phase of conversion of traction between Borivli to Vile Parle was completed in November last year.

"We will work on all overhead lines and change the electrical equipment. Most of the DC-AC conversion work is complete. Whatever little is left, will be completed by February 5," said Sharat Chandrayan, chief public relations officer, WR.

The commissioner of railway safety will conduct an inspection on the route on January 28 and 29 after which the conversion work will be undertaken. "It is a routine step. We will inspect the lines on safety parameters," said an official on condition of anonymity as he is not authorised to speak to the media.

The inspection could cause minor interruption in the services. "A major block will not be held for the inspection. Only minor blocks will be held on different lines for some time, added the official.
