Man confesses to raping sister-in-law

“He (Shaikh) has admitted to taking her to a hotel in Mumbai Central and raping her. He also confessed to threatening to divorce her sister and physically abuse her if she revealed the matter to anyone,” said senior police inspector Sanjay Kadam of Nagpada Police station.

“He said he was attracted to his sister-in-law. After he raped her, he threatened her,” said Kadam.

The police said that Shaikh also disclosed how he had planned the crime.

“He had booked the hotel in Mumbai Central in advance. He had told the hotel owner that he was coming there with his wife. The hotel owner did not suspect anything because the girl was wearing a burqa,” Kadam said.

The burqa hid her face and the hotel employees could not know that the girl was minor.

The victim alleged that on the morning of January 3, Shaikh picked her up from her school on pretext of taking her to her family. Instead, he took her to a hotel in Mumbai Central where he raped her.

The police said the victim’s medical test have confirmed rape. Shaikh is married to the girl’s elder sister for 10 years and has been working with his father-in-law in Masjid.
