Mumbai: Mentally-challenged woman raped by friend

A 20-year-old mentally challenged woman lodged a complaint of rape with the Malwani police on Tuesday. The woman identified the accused as Raju who lives in the same locality in Malwani. The police have launched a manhunt for the accused.

Police said the woman is a resident of Gate 7 of Malwani and her parents are vegetable vendors. The incident took place on May 10 when the victim was alone at home. The accused told the woman to come with him to play marbles. She agreed as she knew the accused.

The man then, allegedly, forcefully took her to his house and raped her. The victim experienced some pain after which her mother tried to find out what was wrong. The woman revealed that she had been raped.

The family then took the opinion of neighbours and relatives before lodging a complaint with the Malwani police. The police sent the victim for a medical examination and are waiting for reports. They are trying to prepare a sketch of the accused with the help of the victim.
