Muzaffar Hussain to take on Azmi’s son

Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) has fielded Member of Legislative Council Muzaffar Hussain against Samajwadi Party leader Abu Azmi’s son Farhaan Azmi for the January 20 by-election to Bhiwandi Assembly seat, reports HT Correspondent.

The seat was vacated by Abu Azmi on getting elected from two constituencies — Mankhurd and Bhiwandi east — in the October Assembly elections.

Farhaan will be official candidate of the Republican Left Democratic Front.

For Hussain, an outsider hailing from the neighbouring Mira Bhayander, the ticket comes as a reward for not rebelling against the Nationalist Congress Party nominee in his home constituency.

A novice in politics, Farhaan is mostly known as actress Ayesh Takia’s husband.
