A 34-year-old man allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself from the ceiling fan at his Ghatkopar (East) residence on Wednesday afternoon.
According to the Pant Nagar police, the deceased Kiran Sanil was the brother-in-law of Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) corporator Rakhi Jadhav from Ghatkopar. The police found a message in Sanil’s mobile phone and the police suspect that he had typed it before killing himself.
“The message was in the draft folder and said since he could not do much in his life, he ws killing himself,” said Ramesh Yadav, assistant inspector, Pant Nagar police station.
Sanil’s brother reached his residence at 5.30pm and found the door locked from inside. He borrowed the house keys kept with a neighbour and found Sanil hanging from a ceiling fan.
His brother then took him to a nearby hospital, but he was declared dead on arrival. The police filed an accidental death report.
Sanil, who worked as a real estate agent, was last seen at 3pm having lunch with one of his cousins.
Script writer commits suicide
A 23-year-old small-time Bollywood script writer was found hanging at his Mira Road apartment on Wednesday morning. The deceased left a suicide note stating that he was ending his life because of financial issues.
According to the Mira Road police, the deceased, identified as Amir Yusuf Mir, committed suicide late Tuesday at his apartment at Evershine Gold building in Beverly Park.
“We found a hand-written suicide note along with his identity card. We have informed his parents,” said K Shirsagar, senior inspector at Mira road police station.
