Now, chemistry can’t stop your dream of being an engineer

In a move that will benefit more than 5,000 engineering aspirants, the directorate of technical education has notified that students can now replace their Chemistry marks in HSC with Biology, Biotechnology or Technical Vocational subjects for securing admission in engineering colleges. HT reports.

In a move that will benefit more than 5,000 engineering aspirants, the directorate of technical education has notified that students can now replace their Chemistry marks in HSC with Biology, Biotechnology or Technical Vocational subjects for securing admission in engineering colleges.

The earlier rule did not permit those students who had scored less than the minimum 45% (combined) in Physics, Maths and Chemistry to apply for engineering seats.

Students can now submit their forms, with the new subject marks to the designated application receipt centre (ARC) from June 13 to June 15 for the centralised admission process (CAP) for first-year engineering degree courses in the state.

“The Aurangabad bench of the Bombay HC had passed an interim order asking the government to follow the criteria prescribed by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), said Suresh Yawalkar, deputy director, DTE.

This step will help students who had to miss out on engineering seats owing to less marks in Chemistry, he added.
