On day of HSC results, teen falls to death

While there were conflicting reports on the cause of her death as HSC results were declared on Friday, the police have registered a case of accidental death.

Brahmane resided on the third floor of the four storeyed B9 wing of Bhimashankar society in Nerul. Her father Sanjay is a small time labour-supplier.

“The girl had gone to the terrace to fetch her mother’s footwear. She seems to have slipped and fallen to her death,” said Shivaji Tathavde, senior inspector of Nerul police station. Ruling out suicide as suggested by local residents, who claimed that the girl had failed, Tathavde said, “It has nothing to do with the HSC results. It was just an accident. The incident occurred around noon, before the results were announced.”

Brahmane’s friends claimed that she had secured 51% in the exam. A classmate of the girl, “She was good at studies. Her mother has not been told about her death. She thinks that she has been admitted to the ICU.”
