Students of Mumbadevi Vidya Mandir, Khar, were allegedly sent to the library for three consecutive days after their parents refused to pay the fees for the entire year in advance.
“We are prepared to fight the school to secure the rights of our children,” said Susham Shewale, a parent of a Class 9 student who was detained.
In June, the school hiked the fees and asked parents to pay for the entire year. When parents refused, they returned the quarterly payment cheques, claimed parents.
On Monday, the principal allegedly warned students whose parents had not paid the entire annual sum in advance. Over the next three days, the students were confined in the library during school hours. The principal refused to comment.
