Pedestrian hit for trying to stop brawl had returned from US last month
“He was unconscious for a long time, and when he returned to consciousness, he could not identify his relatives, he could not recognise his own name. This was uncalled for, and the family is traumatised,” said Karan Khanna, nephew of 35-year-old Sanjay Jaiswal, who is battling for life at suburban Nanavati hospital.

Jaiswal, his relatives said, has been working with a US-based shipping firm since the past six years. His family – comprising his wife, six-year-old daughter, 80-year-old mother and his brother — lives close to Vakola Masjid in Santacruz (East).
“He came from the US only a month ago, and was supposed to leave next month. We have not even informed his mother of the incident. But she is intuitive and has been crying since morning,” said 29-year-old Khanna.
“He is an extremely soft-spoken person and intervened only to settle the fight between the two. No one anticipated that this would be the result,” he added.
Khanna said that Jaiswal was with his brother-in-law, Sanjay Vishwakarma at the time of the incident. The duo had met an advocate and was on their way to their residences in the vicinity when the incident occurred.
