Senior inspector Srikant Pingle from Palghar police station played it down saying the section was bailable - an offence for which bail can be got at the police station itself.

When it was pointed out that the section was non-bailable, Pingle corrected himself, but added (wrongly), "The section is non-cognisable". Section 66A of the IT Act is cognisable, under which police can arrest without a warrant.
